LEFT: Born in America's bible belt, Jerry Lee Lewis was entranced by the barrel house pianists of Ferriday, Louisiana and channeled his religious fervor into boogie woogie the devil's music. LEFT CENTER: In 1957 he recorded Whole Lot of Shakin and Great Balls of Fire and the floodgates were open for the "Louisiana Fireball." CENTER: With Elvis in the army in 1958, Jerry Lee was heir apparent as the "King of Rock 'n' Roll." RIGHT CENTER: On a British tour with the Treniers in 1958 Jerry Lee's marriage to his 13-year-old cousin, Myra, hit the tabloids and his career nosedived. For the next several years he played in minor venues at cut rates. RIGHT: In the late 1960s Jerry Lee, now called "The Killer," turned to God and Country music and began rebuilding his life and career. He's still rockin' in 2012. | ||||
